Sergeant Michael Toussiant-hyle Washington, an American Marine, was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington. He chose to serve his country by joining the United States Marine Corps, where he was part of Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, based out of Twentynine Palms, California.
Washington was deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, a military operation launched in response to the events of September 11, 2001. Operation Enduring Freedom aimed to dismantle terrorist organizations and ensure regional stability.
On June 14, 2008, at the age of 20, Sgt. Washington's life was tragically cut short in Farah Province, Afghanistan. His death was attributed to hostile action, a stark reminder of the perils faced by military personnel in conflict zones.
