PFC Brandon James Wadman, 19, from Cape Coral, FL, was killed in action on May 5, 2004, in Bagram, Afghanistan, during Operation Enduring Freedom.
Their Story
Brandon James Wadman, a Private First Class in the United States Army, served his country with dedication. Born and raised in Cape Coral, Florida, he joined the National Guard and was assigned to the HHB, 265th Air Defense Battalion, Forward 2, based in West Palm Beach.
At just 19 years old, Wadman was deployed to Afghanistan, a region embroiled in conflict since the launch of Operation Enduring Freedom in October 2001. The operation aimed to dismantle terrorist networks and stabilize the region following the events of September 11, 2001.
On May 5, 2004, Wadman's life was tragically cut short in Bagram, Afghanistan. The circumstances of his death highlight the dangers faced by military personnel in conflict zones, where the threat of insurgent attacks persisted even after the initial objectives of the operation were achieved.
Wadman's death served as a somber reminder of the ongoing sacrifices made by young servicemen and women far from home. His passing was mourned by his family, friends, and comrades, who remembered him for his courage and commitment.
Operation Enduring Freedom continued for a decade after Wadman's death, concluding in December 2014. His service is honored alongside many who served with valor in challenging circumstances.
