Vinnedge, Phillip David
Lance Corporal Phillip David Vinnedge of the U.S. Marine Corps died at 19 on October 13, 2010, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, during Operation Enduring Freedom.
Their Story
Phillip David Vinnedge, a young Marine from Saint Charles, Missouri, served in the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines (RCT-2, I MEF FWD) 1st Marine Division based out of Camp Pendleton, California. Lance Corporal Vinnedge was deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, a mission that began in October 2001 with the goal of dismantling terrorist organizations in the region.
On October 13, 2010, Vinnedge tragically lost his life during a hostile encounter in Helmand Province, a region that saw significant conflict during the operation. He was just 19 years old at the time of his death, one of the 2,356 American service members who died in the operation.
The loss of Lance Corporal Vinnedge was deeply felt by his family, friends, and fellow Marines. His commitment to his duties and his service to his country are remembered with respect and honor.
