Their Story
Jonathan Michael Villanueva, a Private First Class in the United States Army, was stationed at COP CARWILE in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. Born in Jacksonville, Florida, he served in Company D, 2nd Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, based at Fort Polk, Louisiana.
On April 27, 2011, PFC Villanueva lost his life in a hostile incident, marking a somber day during the final years of the U.S. military's active combat operations in Afghanistan. He was 19 years old at the time of his passing.
