Jalfred David Vaquerano, a Private First Class in the United States Army, was serving with Company D, 1st Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, based out of Fort Bliss, Texas. His deployment included assignments in Afghanistan, the Philippines, and the Horn of Africa, reflecting the complex global nature of Operation Enduring Freedom.
On December 13, 2011, PFC Vaquerano succumbed to injuries sustained in hostile action. He was transported to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, where he passed away. His death was confirmed by the Department of Defense and marked a somber moment for his unit and family.
