Cpl. Jacob Henry Turbett, a 21-year-old U.S. Marine from Canton, Michigan, was killed on February 13, 2010, in Marjeh, Afghanistan, during Operation Enduring Freedom.
Their Story
Cpl. Jacob Henry Turbett was a member of the United States Marine Corps, serving with the 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, which is part of the 1st Battalion, 6th Marines, Regimental Combat Team 7, Marine Expeditionary Brigade – Afghanistan, based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
Born and raised in Canton, Michigan, Turbett joined the Marines with a determination to serve his country. His deployment included assignments in Afghanistan, the Philippines, and the Horn of Africa, reflecting the varied global commitments of U.S. military forces.
On February 13, 2010, Turbett was killed in hostile action in Marjeh, Afghanistan. At the time, Marjeh was the focus of a major military operation aimed at dismantling Taliban strongholds and stabilizing the region.
