Their Story
Steven Charles Tucker, a Private First Class in the United States Army, hailed from Grapevine, Texas. As a member of A Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade, he was stationed at Camp Ederle in Italy before his deployment.
Tucker was part of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), the U.S.-led effort initiated in October 2001 aimed at dismantling al-Qaeda and removing the Taliban from power in Afghanistan. By 2005, OEF had seen significant military engagements in regions like Kandahar, where Tucker was deployed.
On May 21, 2005, Tucker lost his life due to hostile actions in Kandahar. His unit, Task Force Rock, was actively involved in combat operations in some of the conflict's most challenging terrains, engaging in efforts to stabilize the region.
