Sergeant Daniel James Thompson hailed from Madison, Wisconsin. He served as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve, attached to the 715th Military Police Company based in Melbourne, Florida. As part of his service, Thompson was deployed to Afghanistan amidst the ongoing Operation Enduring Freedom.
Operation Enduring Freedom commenced on October 7, 2001, as a response to the September 11 attacks, aiming to dismantle terrorist networks in Afghanistan and beyond.
