Their Story
James Earl Thode was a Senior Field Commander in the 118th Engineer Company, part of the 1457th Engineer Battalion of the National Guard. Born in Kirtland, New Mexico, Thode dedicated his life to service, both in his community and his country. He was deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, an international military campaign initiated in response to the September 11 attacks.
