SFC John Edward Taylor, an American from Wichita Falls, TX, served in the U.S. Army's 3rd Special Forces Group and was killed in action on May 17, 2003, in Bagram, Afghanistan.
Their Story
Sergeant First Class John Edward Taylor was born and raised in Wichita Falls, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Army, dedicating his life to service. Taylor was assigned to the Headquarters of the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
In support of Operation Enduring Freedom, SFC Taylor was deployed to Afghanistan, a country marred by conflict since the start of the operation on October 7, 2001. The operation aimed to dismantle al-Qaeda and remove the Taliban from power following the attacks on September 11, 2001.
On May 17, 2003, while stationed at the Bagram Air Base, John Edward Taylor was killed in action. The circumstances of his death were confirmed by the Department of Defense the same year, marking a somber chapter in the ongoing mission.
