Staff Sergeant Sheldon Leon Tate served in the U.S. Army as part of Company E, 782nd Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Born in Hinesville, Georgia, he was deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, a conflict initiated in October 2001 following the September 11 attacks.
