Jake William Suter, an 18-year-old from Los Angeles, CA, served as a PFC in the U.S. Marine Corps, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines, and died on May 29, 2010, in Afghanistan.

Their Story

Jake William Suter was a young Marine serving his country at the time of his untimely death. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Suter joined the United States Marine Corps, dedicating himself to the service of his nation. As a Private First Class, he was part of the 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines, a unit based out of Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, which was deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Operation Enduring Freedom, which began in October 2001, sought to dismantle terrorist organizations and stabilize the region. Suter's unit was embedded within the Regional Combat Team-7, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force Forward, a significant component in these efforts.

On May 29, 2010, at just 18 years of age, Suter lost his life during combat operations at Patrol Base Jangeali, Afghanistan. His passing is recorded as a result of being killed in action, as documented by Marine Corps records.

Suter's death is a somber reminder of the human cost of conflict. Each individual life lost in war leaves a void, not only in the ranks of the military but also in the hearts of families and communities.

Operation Enduring Freedom continued until December 2014, marking a lengthy and challenging engagement in the region. Suter's service and sacrifice are part of this broader tapestry, reflecting the complex and often perilous nature of military operations.
