Brandon Michael Styer, a Private First Class in the United States Army, was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. As a young soldier, he was assigned to the 569th Engineer Company, 4th Engineer Battalion. On October 15, 2009, Styer died in the vicinity of Fire Base Cobra, Afghanistan. The cause of death was recorded as hostile, a term used to describe combat-related fatalities.
