Stump, Adrian Bovee
WO1 Adrian Bovee Stump, 22, from Pendleton, OR, died in Deh Chopan, Afghanistan on September 25, 2005 during Operation Enduring Freedom.
Their Story
Adrian Bovee Stump was a Warrant Officer 1 in the United States Army National Guard, serving with Company D, 113th Aviation Regiment, known as Task Force Griffin. Originally from Pendleton, Oregon, Stump was deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Stump's service in Afghanistan placed him in a complex conflict zone where the Taliban, by 2005, had increased their activities, including the use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) against coalition forces. This resurgence marked a challenging period for U.S. and allied troops.
On September 25, 2005, Stump was killed in a hostile incident in Deh Chopan, a district in Afghanistan's Zabul Province. The specifics of the incident reflect the dangerous conditions faced by military personnel during this phase of the conflict.
Stump's death was recorded in the Defense Casualty Analysis System, a solemn reminder of the human cost of military operations. His sacrifice is remembered alongside many others who served in the protracted conflict.
Operation Enduring Freedom began in October 2001 following the September 11 attacks and continued until December 2014, aiming to dismantle terrorist networks and support Afghan stability.
