Chrystal Gaye Stout, an American soldier from Travelers Rest, SC, died in action in Ghazni, Afghanistan on April 6, 2005, at the age of 23.
Their Story
Chrystal Gaye Stout served as a Specialist in the U.S. Army National Guard with the HHC, 228th Signal Brigade, Tactical Forward, (CJTF-76), based in Spartanburg, SC. Her deployment to Afghanistan was part of the United States' military efforts during Operation Enduring Freedom, a campaign initiated in response to the events of September 11, 2001.
On April 6, 2005, the 23-year-old was reported killed in action in Ghazni, a province in southeastern Afghanistan. Her death marked a somber moment in the ongoing conflict, which saw numerous service members from around the world deployed to the region.
