John Thomas Stone, a Master Sergeant in the United States Army, hailed from Norwich, Vermont. At the time of his death, he was serving with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 86th Brigade, 42nd Infantry Division, known as Task Force Phoenix, based in Northfield, Vermont. Born in 1953, Stone dedicated much of his life to military service.
