Their Story
Lance Corporal Steven Prince Stevens II was born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served with the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, part of the 1st Marine Division, based at Camp Pendleton, California.
Stevens was deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, a conflict initiated in October 2001. His unit was involved in operations within Helmand Province, a region known for intense military engagements during the war.
On June 22, 2012, Stevens died in Helmand Province. The cause of death was reported as a result of hostile action. He was one of the 2,356 American military personnel who lost their lives during Operation Enduring Freedom.
