Camella Marchett Steedley, an American Marine Corps Sergeant, was killed in action on October 3, 2012, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
Their Story
Camella Marchett Steedley served as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. She was assigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 17, part of the I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), 1st Marine Logistics Group, based at Camp Pendleton, California. Her service took her to various operational theaters, including Afghanistan, the Philippines, and the Horn of Africa.
On October 3, 2012, Sgt. Steedley was killed in action in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. She was one of the 2,356 American military personnel who lost their lives during Operation Enduring Freedom, which was a part of the larger conflict in Afghanistan that began in October 2001 and concluded in December 2014.
