Michael Lane Stansbery Jr served as a Specialist in the United States Army. Originating from Mount Juliet, Tennessee, Stansbery was part of the Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
On July 30, 2010, Stansbery lost his life in Afghanistan. His death was classified as hostile. He was among the many American service members who deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, a military campaign launched in response to the events of September 11, 2001.
