Standfest, Jeffrey Robert

Cpl. Jeffrey Robert Standfest served in the United States Marine Corps, specifically with the 3rd Combat Engineer Battalion, part of the 3rd Marine Division, stationed in Twentynine Palms, California. Born and raised in St. Clair, Michigan, Standfest dedicated his service to Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military operation in Afghanistan.

On June 16, 2010, Standfest lost his life in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, an area known for frequent conflict during the operation. The U.S. Department of Defense reported his death as a result of hostile action, a term indicating combat-related incidents.

Operation Enduring Freedom began in October 2001 as a response to the September 11 attacks, with the aim of dismantling Taliban and al-Qaeda networks. Helmand Province, a focal point of the conflict, witnessed numerous military operations due to its strategic and volatile nature.
