Staggs, Austin Garrett

Private First Class Austin Garrett Staggs was a member of the United States Army, serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 1st Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Born in Senoia, Georgia, Staggs joined the Army at a young age, a decision that led him to serve in multiple regions including Afghanistan.

On November 29, 2010, while deployed in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, PFC Staggs was killed in hostile action. The incident occurred approximately 10 kilometers northeast of Combat Outpost Lonestar, a location known for its strategic military significance in the region.

Operation Enduring Freedom commenced on October 7, 2001, following the events of September 11, 2001, with a primary focus on dismantling terrorist operations in Afghanistan. By its conclusion in December 2014, the operation had involved numerous military personnel, including Staggs, whose service and sacrifice were part of a broader international effort.
