Their Story
PFC Tyler Michael Springmann was a young soldier from Hartland, Maine, who enlisted in the United States Army. At the time of his death, he was serving with Company A, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry, part of the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, based at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
On July 17, 2011, Springmann's life came to an abrupt end in Talukan, Afghanistan. He was killed in a hostile incident, a stark reminder of the dangers faced by service members in combat zones. His death was officially recorded by the Army as a result of hostile action.
