Specialist Christopher John Scott, 21, of Tyrone, New York, was a U.S. Army military policeman serving with the 561st Military Police Company. He died on September 3, 2011, in Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Specialist Christopher John Scott was born in Tyrone, New York, a small community in Schuyler County. He enlisted in the United States Army and was assigned as a military policeman to the 561st Military Police Company, 716th Military Police Battalion, 16th Military Police Brigade (Airborne), based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
In 2011, Scott deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. His unit operated in Kandahar province, a region in southern Afghanistan that was a focal point of insurgent activity and a key area for NATO-led International Security Assistance Force operations.
On September 3, 2011, Scott was killed during a hostile incident in Kandahar. According to the Department of Defense, he died of wounds sustained from enemy small arms fire. No further details of the engagement were publicly released.
Scott was 21 years old at the time of his death. His passing was reported by local newspapers in New York and by national military casualty lists. He was one of 1,856 American service members killed in Afghanistan in 2011, the deadliest year of the war for U.S. forces.
