Staff Sergeant Daniel Anthony Rodriguez was a soldier in the U.S. Army's 110th Transportation Company, a unit specializing in logistical support. His service included deployments to Afghanistan, the Philippines, and the Horn of Africa, according to the Department of Defense.
On July 18, 2012, Rodriguez died in Bagram, Afghanistan, the site of a major U.S. military base in Parwan province. The Department of Defense announced his death the following day, stating he was killed by enemy small arms fire.
