Robinson, Antione Vincent
Private First Class Antione Vincent Robinson, 20, of Detroit, Michigan, served in the U.S. Army with Company F, 782nd Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Their Story
Private First Class Antione Vincent Robinson was a 20-year-old soldier from Detroit, Michigan. He served on active duty with the U.S. Army's Company F, 782nd Brigade Support Battalion, part of the 4th Brigade Combat Team stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. His unit was deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
In March 2008, Robinson was stationed at Forward Operating Base Orgun-E in Paktika province, southeastern Afghanistan. The base was a key logistics and operations hub for U.S. and coalition forces near the border with Pakistan.
On March 19, 2008, the Department of Defense announced that Pfc. Antione V. Robinson had died at FOB Orgun-E. A subsequent military investigation, reported by the Fayetteville Observer, concluded his death was the result of negligent discharge by another soldier.
Robinson's death was one of over 2,300 U.S. military fatalities during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart, according to Army records.
His funeral was held in his hometown of Detroit. He is memorialized on the Afghanistan War Memorial at the Detroit Veterans Center and on online veterans' memorials.
