Rieck, Jeffrey James

Master Sergeant Jeffrey James Rieck was a 46-year-old soldier from Columbus, Ohio, serving with the Ohio Army National Guard. He was assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 148th Infantry Regiment, 37th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 38th Infantry Division, based in Tiffin, Ohio.

On April 4, 2012, Rieck was killed in Maymaneh, the capital of Faryab province in northern Afghanistan. According to U.S. Department of Defense records, his death was the result of hostile action. Specific details of the incident were not widely disclosed in public reports.

Rieck's death occurred during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan that began in October 2001.
