Regelin, Chad Robert
Petty Officer First Class Chad Robert Regelin, 24, of Cottonwood, California, was a U.S. Navy serviceman assigned to Marine Special Operations Company Bravo. He died in a hostile incident at EDB Role II, Afghanistan, on January 2, 2012.

Chad Robert Regelin was a 24-year-old Petty Officer First Class from Cottonwood, a small community in Northern California. He served with the U.S. Navy, assigned to the elite Marine Special Operations Company Bravo. His service reportedly included deployments to Afghanistan, the Philippines, and the Horn of Africa.
Regelin was killed on January 2, 2012, at Expeditionary Medical Facility (EDB) Role II in the Helmand province of Afghanistan. According to the Department of Defense, his death resulted from a hostile incident. The facility was a forward-deployed medical unit supporting coalition forces in a region of intense insurgent activity.
His death occurred during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan that began in October 2001 following the September 11 attacks. The operation's primary objectives, as stated by the U.S. government, were to dismantle al-Qaeda and remove the Taliban regime from power.
The Navy officially announced Regelin's death several days later. He was posthumously promoted from Petty Officer Second Class to Petty Officer First Class. His body was returned to the United States, and he was buried with military honors.
Regelin is memorialized on the Navy Memorial's 'The Wall of the Fallen' and is listed on the Afghanistan War casualty rolls. His name appears on a veterans' memorial in his hometown of Cottonwood.
