Master Sergeant Scott Eugene Pruitt was a 38-year-old Marine from Gautier, Mississippi. He was assigned to I Marine Expeditionary Force Headquarters Group, I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), based at Camp Pendleton, California.
According to the U.S. Department of Defense, Pruitt died on April 28, 2012, in Nimroz province, Afghanistan. The official announcement listed the cause as hostile action, but did not provide further details on the specific incident.
