Commander Job Wilson Price was a 42-year-old U.S. Navy SEAL from Pottstown, Pennsylvania. He served with SEAL Team Four, a unit whose deployments during Operation Enduring Freedom included Afghanistan, the Philippines, and the Horn of Africa.
Price died on December 22, 2012, in Tarin Kowt, the capital of Afghanistan's Uruzgan province. According to the Department of Defense, he was killed during a combat operation. No further specifics regarding the engagement were publicly released by military officials.
His death occurred during the final phase of Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan that began in October 2001. By late 2012, a major troop surge had been drawn down, and U.S. and NATO forces were shifting focus to training Afghan security forces ahead of a planned withdrawal.
