Their Story

Maj. Steven Plumhoff was a 33-year-old officer in the United States Air Force. He was assigned to the 58th Operations Group, based at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico. According to official records, his service involved operations in multiple theaters, including Afghanistan, the Philippines, and the Horn of Africa.

The Air Force posthumously awarded Plumhoff the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart. He was survived by his wife and parents. His remains were returned to the United States, and he was buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
