Joseph Michael Peters was a sergeant in the United States Army, assigned to the 286th Military Police Detachment, 5th Military Police Battalion, based at Camp Ederle in Vicenza, Italy. He was a native of Springfield, Missouri, and was 24 years old at the time of his deployment to Afghanistan.
According to U.S. Department of Defense casualty reports, Sergeant Peters died on October 6, 2013, in Zhari District, Kandahar province, Afghanistan.
