Michael Robert Patton was a 19-year-old Private First Class in the U.S. Marine Corps from Fenton, Missouri. He was killed in action in Farah Province, Afghanistan, on June 14, 2008.

Michael Robert Patton, known as Robert, was a 19-year-old from Fenton, Missouri. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was assigned as a Private First Class to Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, based out of Twentynine Palms, California.
Patton died on June 14, 2008, in Farah Province, Afghanistan. According to the Defense Casualty Analysis System, his death was the result of hostile action. A contemporaneous report from the Department of Defense stated he was killed by an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations.
Patton's death occurred during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan. By 2008, the conflict had entered a phase of intense counterinsurgency, with Taliban forces increasingly employing IEDs against coalition troops in provinces like Farah.
His death was reported by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, which noted he was a 2007 graduate of Rockwood Summit High School. The newspaper reported that he was remembered by former teachers as a respectful student who had joined the Marines shortly after graduation.
Patton is memorialized on the 'Faces of the Fallen' page maintained by The Washington Post and is listed on the Afghanistan War casualty roster. His name is inscribed on the Afghanistan and Iraq War Memorial in his home state of Missouri.
