Their Story
James Anthony Page was a 23-year-old specialist in the United States Army. He was assigned to Company A, 173rd Brigade Support Battalion, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, which was based in Bamberg, Germany. Page was from Titusville, Florida.
On August 31, 2010, Page was killed in Logar Province, Afghanistan. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, he died of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device (IED) attack. The attack reportedly occurred while he was on a mounted patrol.
Page's death occurred during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan that began in October 2001. The mission involved counter-insurgency operations against Taliban and al-Qaeda forces. In 2010, the year of his death, the conflict saw intense fighting, particularly in the country's eastern provinces like Logar.
Following his death, Page was posthumously promoted from Private First Class to Specialist. His body was returned to the United States, and he was buried with military honors. The Army released a statement confirming his death and extending condolences to his family.
