Jesse Aaron Ozbat was a 28-year-old captain in the United States Army from Prince George, Virginia. He was assigned to the 696th Forward Support Company, 168th Brigade Support Battalion, 214th Fires Brigade, based out of Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

According to U.S. Department of Defense records, Captain Ozbat died on May 20, 2012, in Tarin Kowt, the capital of Uruzgan province in southern Afghanistan. The official casualty listing states his death was the result of a hostile incident, though specific details of the engagement were not publicly released.

His death occurred during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan that began in October 2001. By 2012, international forces were in a period of transition, focusing on training Afghan security forces while conducting counterinsurgency operations. Uruzgan province was a known area of Taliban activity.

The Army announced his death in a press release. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart. His remains were returned to the United States for burial.
