Their Story

Michael Webster Ouellette was a 28-year-old Marine from Manchester, New Hampshire. He served with the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, part of the Ground Combat Element of the Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force-Afghanistan, based out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

On March 22, 2009, Corporal Ouellette was killed by hostile fire in Bastion, Afghanistan. According to Marine Corps records, he died during combat operations in Helmand Province, a major center of the insurgency at the time.
