Sapuro Brightley Nena was a 25-year-old sergeant from Honolulu, Hawaii. He served with Company C, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, part of the 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, operating under Task Force Arrowhead.
On September 16, 2012, Sergeant Nena was killed in the village of Spin Murani, located in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan. The Department of Defense stated his death resulted from hostile enemy action. He was reportedly on patrol when his unit came under attack.
Nena's death occurred during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan that began in October 2001.
