Staff Sgt. Brian Keith Mowery, 49, of Halifax, Pennsylvania, was a U.S. Army National Guard soldier. He died on July 18, 2011, in a hostile incident on Highway 1 in Afghanistan.

Brian Keith Mowery was a 49-year-old staff sergeant from Halifax, Pennsylvania. He served with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard's 131st Transportation Company, 728th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, based in Williamstown. According to his unit's designation, he was part of the logistical support network for Operation Enduring Freedom.
On July 18, 2011, Mowery was killed while traveling on Highway 1, a major road linking Kabul to Kandahar that was frequently contested. The Department of Defense stated his death was the result of a hostile incident, though specific details of the attack were not widely released in initial reports. He was one of several U.S. service members to die in Afghanistan that month.
