Michael Joseph Metcalf was a 22-year-old from Boynton Beach, Florida. He served as a Private First Class with Company A, 2nd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
On April 22, 2012, Metcalf was killed in Ghazni province, Afghanistan. According to U.S. Department of Defense casualty reports, his death was the result of hostile fire. Specific details of the engagement were not widely released.
