Staff Sergeant Kashif Mohammed Memon was a 31-year-old American soldier from Houston, Texas. He served with Company A, 96th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne), part of the 95th Civil Affairs Brigade (Airborne) under U.S. Army Special Operations Command, based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
According to the U.S. Department of Defense, Memon died on October 25, 2012, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan. He was killed by enemy small-arms fire while on patrol. His unit was conducting civil affairs operations, which typically involve engaging with local populations to support stability and governance.
